April X: Connor Storrie Hunts for His Twin
The 2026 film, April X, is a sci-fi thriller that follows Connor Storrie as Bax, a man searching for his missing twin sister, in a cold, dystopian, and futuristic city. Lilly Krug stars as April, whose disappearance leads Bax to descend into a world of crime and psychological instability.
Michel K. Parandi’s film brings together elements of suspense, crime, and sci-fi thriller within a post-Soviet-style and dystopian futuristic city. The film is distributed by Rialto Distribution, and North American distribution and theatrical release will be handled by Sunrise Films. Limited release in the US starts on October 2, 2026.
The relationship between Bax and April is important because April’s disappearance does not simply give Bax a mystery to solve. He loses the person who structured much of his life. This explains the psychological element of the search.
Most people discover the film through general entertainment and searches involving MoviesBox. Therefore, for people encountering the film as a dark science fiction thriller, the goal is to not focus on the missing person aspect of the story.
April suddenly disappears and that is where the film starts.
The most important part of the movie is when April goes missing.
According to official synopses, Bax begins looking in every corner of the futuristic city. While doing this, his reality starts to fragment. Eventually his reality fractures beyond repair, and he loses a firm grasp on sanity.
This synopsis allows the movie to play with what is actually happening and what is occurring inside of Bax’s mind.
The future city also adds to the fragmentation.
Most descriptions and reviews of the movie mention fractured memories and dream-like imagery. It is also mentioned that April interacts with technology that records and/or alters dreams. Because of this, reality is naturally set to be illusion.
Rather than simply placing clues in Bax’s path, the movie keeps Bax searching in a disorienting manner.
Storrie is perhaps best known for winning Conor the Magnificent in 2005. He also played famed rugby player Andy Haden in Hades.
Krug, Storrie’s twin in the movie, has also acted in many other films, television shows, and theater productions. Chirilă and Pavlu have also appeared in many local productions.
The bond between the twins is essential in making the viewer believe in their relationship. Storrie’s portrayal of madness must become believable to the audience before they can be fully invested in the suspense.
Moreover, Bax’s quest to find April sets up April’s disappearance to be more than just a means to an end in the story.
Micah Parandi writes and directs April X. Jack Coulton co-writes the film. Lavinia Postolache and Parandi produce.
Though the film takes place in a fictitious post-Soviet era, a good deal of the film is shot in Bucharest, Romania.
Post-Communist architecture and urban landscape lends itself nicely to the film’s dystopian landscape.
Instead of developing a glossy science fiction film, April X takes a gritty approach to the future with criminal and decadent markets intersecting with oppressive social control.
The film truly explores the depth of the science fiction thriller genre.

Dreams, Technology and Memory Form the Core of the Mystery
One of the more fascinating elements of April X is dream technology.
April sells recordings or downloads of her dreams, and so the movie intersects directly with the science fiction genre and explores the interference of technology with human memory and identity.
Thus the movie can explore whether memory and inner experiences belong to a person, or if they can be transmitted to another via technology, and ask what happens to a person’s inner experiences when they are shared.
Bax is searching for April; but in the process begins to have his dreams overlap with memory, and reality; and confront what he remembers about her and what he believes to be true.
For those searching for movies box, this dream-tech aspect of April X sets it apart from other conventional futuristic action movies.
April X Opens October 2
April X will be released in theatres in the US on October 2, 2026 by Sunrise Films and Rialto Distribution. Current listings for show times vary between 91 and 96 minute run times.
Sci-Fi blends with mystery, thriller, and drama to create a fairly simple emotional core around which the story revolves: one twin will not rest until he has found the other.
What makes the search complex and difficult is the world Bax inhabits.
The city is a dangerous place, and he lives in a world of advanced technology where personal and collective memories can be altered and manipulated.
A criminal underworld exists around him, and the lines between Bax’s reality and what exists within his subconscious begin to blur.
Using the technique of altered memories, April X explores Bax’s obsession and need to find his sister, and how far he is willing to go when the one person he can’t live without disappears.
